The Best National University Rankings 2023.



The University of Oxford tops the ranking for the seventh consecutive year. Harvard University remains in second place, but the University of Cambridge jumps from joint fifth last year to joint third.






There are several organizations that produce rankings of national universities, but some of the most well-known and respected ones include:

  1. U.S. News & World Report Best National Universities Rankings: This ranking system is based on a variety of factors including undergraduate academic reputation, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation and retention rates, and alumni giving.

  2. QS World University Rankings: This ranking system is based on several factors including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.

  3. Times Higher Education World University Rankings: This ranking system is based on several factors including teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.

  4. Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU): This ranking system is based primarily on research output and quality, with a focus on scientific research.








It is important to note that each ranking system has its own methodology and may place different weight on different factors, so it is worth considering multiple rankings when making decisions about universities.
